Tony Schmitmeyer, President of Schmitmeyer Enterprises Ltd.
has been flying Buckeye Powered Parachutes since 1996. He can attest to the
ease of flying these aircraft. He is quadriplegic, paralyzed from the chest
down from a diving accident, and has no problem flying a Buckeye. He worked
with Buckeye Industries, Inc. to develop hand controls for the Buckeye so
the pilot can steer the aircraft with either the hand controls or the
standard foot steering bars. This is an exciting sport that everyone can
enjoy. Give him a call and let him introduce you to this fast growing
sport.
Dexter, Kentucky USA January 15, 2005 --
Steve Thomas announces that he will attempt to fly across America in a
homebuilt powered parachute in March, 2005. The flight will begin in
Camarillo, California and end at Hilton Head, South Carolina.
Steve Thomas will fly from California to South Carolina which will take
approximately 70-80 hours in flight time. However, to get 70-80 hours of
flyable weather conditions it may take 2 months. Powered parachutes are
limited to flying only in reasonably good weather and with winds under 15
mph on the ground. It is preferred for the winds to be under 10 mph and most
pilots fly them in the early morning and late evening when the winds are
light. This is Steve's second flight across the country. This site will be
update regularly to monitor his progress.
This site is about all you need to find
an airport anywhere in the U.S. Even the smallest of private air fields can
be found using this service. What is unique about it is the information that
it retrieves using various data bases such as:
Landing facility data provided by
the FAA. Area map generated through
TIGER (U.S.
Census Bureau). Routes display (with fuel stops) by
AirNav. Aerial images and topographic maps
by ACME Mapper ("[AM]"). As the name
implies the search allows you to find the closest airport from the address
you enter. The distance from the address is also a search parameter. Driving
directions are also provided.
This page provides an interactive form that will produce a yearly table
for your location of
sunrise/sunset, moonrise/moonset, nautical twilight,
astronomical twilight, and most important for Sport Pilots and FAR 103 airman,
civil twilight.
This information is retrieved from: Astronomical Applications Dept.

This is not an aviation site, but I believe it is worth
taking a look at. This company sells some of the most durable and versatile
"All Terrain Go-karts" and "Buggies" on the market. They could be used to
get around at fly-ins or for just having fun at fly-ins waiting for the
weather to change. Could also be used as a towing vehicle. Either way they are great fun for the whole family.
